A Crashed Modded Xbox Is Less Fun

Hearing someone talk about their modded xbox is interesting and fun. Hearing them talk about their hard disk crashing is less fun. In this case, it wasn't an entire hard disk, but one partition. The F partition, incidentally the one that holds everything you upload and install. It seemed corrupted, as if it needed a scandisk (in Windows terminology), but there's no way to run one. After spending some time on it with two people, I finally found a solution.

I ended up finding, downloading, burning, and running the Slayer installer disk. I won't tell you how or from what channel, if I can find it, you can. Anyway, that didn't help, maybe I did something wrong, who knows.

Then I found out that it all only takes a couple of minutes, if you know the proper commands. To format that particular partition, you simply have to (with EvolutionX installed): “ FTP to your Xbox (use EvolutionX to get your IP if you don't know it). Format only partition 6. Use the following command: ”FORMATPATH \Device\Harddisk0\Partition6“ You will receive a key. Use this key to type: ”FORMATDRIVE [key]“ (where [key] is the key you received)”. Damn, took me all of Saturday.

The best way to do this, is to look for it in an IRC channel. People may either DCC you one, or direct you to an FTP site to download it from. Some web sites may have a link to a version as well. Oh, and file-sharing networks of course. For more info on modifying and using a modified xbox, http://www.subdiv.net/artic... has lots of info.

@Knuckles: The only thing I can think of right now, is to try and reinstall the evoX software. I am afraid I can't be of more help, since it appears there are many different modchip installs out there. Some enable hardware switching, others software or no switching at all. I am barely able to operate mine

Sadly to say, my xbox is crashing too. I transfered games to a friends and ever since then, some games can't load. I think my hard drive is corrupt, but even disks loaded into the d drive won't play. My friend and I are going to try it your way, but if someone can think of another solution, please email me at ElleSDee86@gmail.com. Thanks a bunch.
