One of the changes that I made to the blog this past weekend, was to introduce four expandable menu items in the right column. Instead of showing all listings of most rated and top rated posts, I now show the categories with a little '+' next to it. Clicking it gives you all the usual information, and the menu item can be closed again as well.
I found
this flooble JavaScript some time last year. It looked interesting, but I never got around to it, never actually had time to look into it. Until some time last April, when I figured out how to put it to good use. It still took a while to actually integrate it in my blog, but hey, here it is. In the meantime, I have seen it being used in other places as well, which only motivated me more to finally implement it.
On the flooble page, you can enter some variables to get a customized script, or you can simply download a version and adjust it to your own needs. I did that, using labels for my content that I would actually understand, instead of the random-looking numbers the script generates. Should you want to give it a try, I think you will find it easy enough to create and put on your own site.
Right now there is a slight problem with the display of my foldable/collapsable menu on the right, when using IE. The text moves over a little and gets out of whack. I'm not sure how to fix that yet, so I'll just leave it be for now.
